22 days, 440km, 1100 sand dunes all while raising funds and bringing awareness to Jenny’s Place who assist women and children escaping domestic violence and at risk of homelessness.

This Trek for Jenny’s Place is going to be a cracker of a trip. It will have it’s moments when you think “what am I doing here” and then there will be the golden ones when you are sitting on top of a dune, full moon at sunset and not a soul in sight! It will be a trip of surprises and adventures.

Day 12 - (Friday, 26 August)

We woke up this morning to minus 5 degrees.  It was so cold and the only thing that enticed us out of bed was Paddy and Crew having the fire going and the kettle boiling.

Today was to be another big day.  We have been told Sunday and Monday are going to be exceptionally hot days so we have been trying to do an extra few kms over the past few days so that on the really hot days that are coming, we don’t have to walk as long.

We ended up walking 25.2 kms by the end of the day over 8 hours and 30 minutes and 44,236 steps walked which was our biggest day yet and we really felt it.  We have been walking for 10 days straight now so we are naturally tired but walking that far was pretty brutal for everyone (except Mumma C of course).

People in their 4WDs cannot believe what we are doing.   They follow our footprints and then eventually come across us on the track and are so shocked to see us out here walking.  We got another $275 in cash donations today and one guy asked if we would like a beer.  We said we would love one to give to our sole male Trekker Troy when we got into camp as he has been really helping out everyone so much.  Troy was very excited when we presented it to him from “the Blister Sisters”.

We are camped tonight right at the salt lakes.  We have gone from seeing sand as far as the eye can see to now seeing white salt lakes.

The sunset tonight as we all sat around eating our dinner was just spectacular - so colourful in such a clear sky.

We still haven’t seen a camel but this morning we saw two dingos and later while we were walking we heard a dingo howl.

All toes are wrapped, blisters popped and Dencorub applied as we lay our heads down for the night before we have to get up and do it all again tomorrow.
