22 days, 440km, 1100 sand dunes all while raising funds and bringing awareness to Jenny’s Place who assist women and children escaping domestic violence and at risk of homelessness.

This Trek for Jenny’s Place is going to be a cracker of a trip. It will have it’s moments when you think “what am I doing here” and then there will be the golden ones when you are sitting on top of a dune, full moon at sunset and not a soul in sight! It will be a trip of surprises and adventures.

Day 2 - (Tuesday, 16 August)

We all woke about 7 am this morning after a great night’s sleep.  Our tents are roomy and Camel Paddy has even provided us with a great inflating mattress and full size pillow - luxury !

We had our breakfast and were all still quite rugged up for a couple of hours until the sun warmed up.

We went on a 5 km walk just to get the legs moving and then when we got back we all headed to the springs to have a soak.  The springs are between 34 and 38 degrees - it’s like having a hot bath.

Around 1 pm we all had some lunch and after sitting around for a while decided on playing some UNO to pass the arvo.

Some people had a sleep, some sorted bags again and some read.  We are all taking advantage of our last day of rest before we leave tomorrow morning.

Later in the day we did our final bag packing, sorting out snacks, filling water bladders and getting clothes and shoes ready.

Paddy made us the most yummy beef stew and damper - it was so good.  But the mozzies arrived and we were getting eaten alive so by 6.45 pm everyone retreated to their tents to escape the mozzies.  Paddy has assured us there are no mozzies in the Desert so they won’t be a problem after tomorrow however the flies are a whole other story once we get out there.

No more putting it off.  We leave at 8 am tomorrow morning!
